David received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007. After graduation, he became a senior research scientist at Kim Laboratories, Inc. in Champaign, IL, where he oversaw the research and development of the NoroCheck™ System for the real-time detection of norovirus, a major cause of food poisoning. For the following three years David was the Director of Research Genomics for PreventionGenetics, a Clinical DNA testing company in Marshfield, WI. There he managed all contract based research projects and initiated the development of a new series of DNA sequencing tests based on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. From his work at PreventionGenetics, David gained a strong knowledge of NGS technologies and their integration into a clinical environment. He spent the next two years working for Thermo Fisher Scientific, briefly as a product specialist and then as a product manager for the NanoDrop™ UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. He also led the development of the NanoDrop™ One. Currently, David is a product manager with Illumina where he manages the Exome Library Prep portfolio.
